Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How does the cage free dog grooming environment work?
A: The dogs are allowed to run and play with each other in the grooming
room. There are also cages available in our salon and we will cage dogs for
medical, heat, and behavioral reasons. No overly aggressive dogs are accepted at Fefe's Fort
LLC. For your pets health and safety, we require proof of current
vaccinations.
Q: What if I'm unsure if my dog will get along with other dogs?
A: We take the time to gradually introduce shy or fearful dogs to the idea
of interacting with other dogs. We have not had a dog fight yet. If we see any
sign that your dog is not going to get along with another dog, we will separate
and cage the dogs.
Q: How soon will I be able to get an appointment at your salon?
A: Appointment availability varies. Most of our regular customers
have set up recurring appointments with us. Thus, we currently do not have many
openings for new appointments. We highly recommend that you schedule
your next appointment when you pick up your dog and request that we schedule
you for recurring
appointments - guaranteeing you are always able to get your dog groomed when
he/she
is ready. If you do not schedule your appointment when picking up your dog -
we recommend you call at least 4 weeks in advance to schedule an appointment.

Q: What are your check-in procedures?
A: Please bring your dog to it's grooming appointment on a leash. If
you are a new customer please bring your vaccination records with you and allow
a
few minutes to complete our customer/pet information forms. Please arrive on
time for your appointment. We are unable to accept dogs that arrive more than
30 minutes late for an appointment.
Q: What forms of payment do you accept?
A: We accept cash, Visa, MasterCard, and checks processed
electronically. Please have your driver's license with you for check processing.
Q: How much do you charge for your services?
A: Prices vary depending on the service being provided, the coat length
and condition, behavior, breed, size, and weight of your dog. Small dogs range
from $17-30, medium dogs/large dogs with short hair range from $20-45, and large
dogs start at $40. We are able to provide a price estimate on the phone. Once we
have seen your dog we will be able to give you an exact rate.
Q: What is the Doggie Daycare? Do you need an
appointment for it?
A: Hate leaving your pet home alone all day long? While
your dog is at Fefe's Fort for Doggy Daycare, it will get to play with
other dogs and toys, nap, and have
generous amounts of drinking
water throughout its visit. An appointment is required
for this service. Please call at least 1 day in advance to schedule your
dog for Doggie Daycare. For more information and rates, see our Services
Page.
Q: My dog has really dry skin. Do you have anything
to help with it?
A: Yes, we will shampoo your dog with an oatmeal shampoo and then apply
a remoist conditioning treatment.
Q: My dog is an outside dog. Does he really need to be professionally
groomed?
A: Yes. Grooming is a matter of health just as much as it is a matter of
looks. It's essential for healthy skin and hair.
Q: My dog sheds a lot, do you have anything to help with shedding?
A: Yes, we are an authorized facility offering the FURminator®
shed-less Treatment, which reduces shedding up to 90%. We offer this treatment
as an add-on to your bath or groom. Please visit our FURminator
page for more information.
Q: My dog has fleas, what do I do?
A: The only way to beat a flea problem is to treat, not only the animal,
but the environment. We suggest that you schedule an appointment at a time that
allows for you to treat your home while your dog is being groomed. Treating your
home should include treating any locations that your dog uses. This may include
the outside of your home, bedding, couches and other furniture, carpeting, dog
houses, etc. We recommend using a pest fogger/bomb that kills fleas in the
inside of your home and thoroughly vacuuming and washing areas that your dog
may come into contact with. Preventative measures may also be taken including
drops
that you administer on your dog monthly. At your grooming appointment, we will
remove as many of the fleas as possible. We do not use flea dips/baths as they
are harsh chemicals for your dogs skin. More information is available in our
Pet Information section.
Q: Do you groom cats?
A: No. Because we have a cage free environment limiting our ability to
groom cats on days that we have no dogs scheduled, we have made the decision not
to provide cat grooming at this time.
Q: We would like to have our cat FURminated. Since you do not groom cats,
where can we have this done?
A: We do not currently offer the FURminator for retail sale, however, as a
cat owner, we can order the tool and solutions for you to do the treatment in
your home. Please contact us for current pricing information. Orders must be
paid in advance with delivery in approximately 1 week.
